Robert Bosch Centre for Tumour Diseases (RBCT)

Unique initiative to improve cancer therapies

The Robert Bosch Centre for Tumour Diseases (RBCT) is part of the Robert Bosch Medical Research Foundation (RBMF) and a unique initiative in Germany that focuses on improving cancer patients’ treatment. Not only do we conduct research; we also use our latest research findings to advise and treat patients at the Robert Bosch Hospital (RBK). The interdisciplinary RBCT team, around a scientific director, conducts research in a new, state-of-the-art science building in the immediate vicinity of the Robert-Bosch Hospital.
Together with the scientists of the already established Dr Margarete Fischer-Bosch Institute for Clinical Pharmacology (IKP) and the Robert Bosch Hospital’s physicians, the working groups investigate the molecular mechanisms in cancer development, its progression and metastasis. These findings provide the basis for novel therapies. RBCT's work focuses on translating the latest research findings into applied therapies for cancer patients. To explore the molecular mechanisms, existing platform technologies at the site are being expanded, and new ones are being established. The already existing international network of scientists and physicians at the site will be further expanded with the establishment of new research groups at the RBCT as well as by hosting seminars and conferences on the campus.

Outstanding cooperation with highly recgnized universities and research institutions

Together with the University Hospital Tübingen, the RBCT forms one of currently 13 top cancer centres (CCC Tübingen-Stuttgart) in Germany. We are a partner in the National Centre for Tumour Diseases (NCT) Southwest, one of six locations nationwide. The RBK is the only non-university hospital in this network. As NCT Southwest, we are a key location in southern Germany for innovations in research and cancer treatment.
All RBCT’s activities are performed in close partnership with industry and with university partners in Tübingen, Ulm and Heidelberg. This way, the Stuttgart metropolitan region’s 2.6 million inhabitants gain access to a university oncology department, with its innovative treatment options.
